An early morning traffic incident has cost a Cattaraugus County man his life. State Police officers report that 28-year-old Edward Speaker, a resident of Machias, was struck and killed when he walked into traffic along Route 16 just before 2 this morning. No one in the vehicle was injured in the accident and no charges have been filed against the driver.
Troopers continue to investigate, but alcohol is thought to have been a contributing factor.
