Meetings in New York City on Saturday between officials from Canada and the US did not result in a resolution to the disputes over the Peace Bridge. Governor Andrew Cuomo and American Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson met for nearly 6 hours with Canadian Ambassador Gary Doer and others, attempting to settle issues regarding the future of the Public Bridge Authority and improvement plans for the international crossing. Neither side would comment on the degree of progress made, though all agreed that more talks are forthcoming.
Cuomo emphasized the importance of reaching an agreement when asked whether he would sign a bill that would dissolve the Bridge Authority.
