The Erie County Sheriff's Department is reporting an arrest after a fatal car accident Friday evening. Route 5 near Evangola State Park was closed for 3 hours after a jeep driven by 20-year-old Robert Mooney veered out of control and flipped multiple times. A passenger, 20-year-old Joseph Cavalleri, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Mooney is listed in stable condition at ECMC. He has been charged with DWI and Vehicular Manslaughter.
