Erie County has added another site to its roster of parks. The ribbon was cut at Black Rock Canal Park to signify completion of phase one of a renovation project that will restore the Ontario Street boat launch in Riverside to a welcoming public space. Improvements included expanded green space, a dog park, improvements to the Riverwalk path and new lighting.
Maria Whyte, Commissioner of the Department of Environment and Planning, said, "The developments in this park are so exciting and are the perfect example of the amazing things that can happen when the community, multiple levels of government, and diverse funding sources work together to achieve a shared vision."
Funding for the $1 million project was provided by state and local sources.
