Spring snows

WBFO News photo by Eileen Buckley

Spring snows continue to fall throughout the Western New York region Friday.  A Lake Effect Snow warning remains in effect through noon Friday for Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.  That includes the cities of Orchard Park, Springville, Warsaw, Jamestown and Olean. The National Weather Service reports snow across the southern tier Friday morning and will remain through the noon hour across the higher terrain from the Boston Hills and Wyoming County, south to the Chautauqua Ridge and northern portions of Cattaraugus. Snowfall fates of one to an inch and a half are possible in the more persistent snow.

This will reduce visibility when driving down to a quarter of a mile at times. Roads will be snow covered and slick in spots across in higher elevations.

Parts of Erie and Chautauqua Counties received the most amounts of snowfall Thursday night and into Friday morning.

Up to six inches or more fell in Colden and Ripley.  More than three inches in Jamestown and in the Cattaraugus County town of Franklinville four inches of new snow was recovered.

In the metro Buffalo region scattered snow showers will continue into Friday afternoon. Additional accumulation of about an inch of new snow is expected, with cold temperatures and windy with gust of up to 30-miles an hour.
