Remembrance for local children

WBFO News photo by Mark Wozniak

Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo held its annual remembrance for local kids who were once treated at Children's but have since passed away. The service was held Wednesday evening inside the Hellenic Orthodox Church at Delaware Avenue at Utica in Buffalo.

Parents, family members and friends gather each year to remember the many children who have died for various reason across the area.

The event is marked with an ecumenical service and candle lighting ceremony.   The service also features a slide show of the children.

Performer Tom Stahl also appeared to sing "Are there angels."

WBFO's local All Things Considered host Mark Wozniak attends the yearly event in honor of his own son Alex.  Alex died at the age of 16 in June of 2004   in Buffalo's Women's and Children's Hospital, of complications of leukemia.

Mark provided us with photos from Wednesday's event.
