Search for man continues near Niagara Falls

WBFO News file photo

Authorities have resumed their search for a man who reportedly was seen in the Niagara River near the brink of Niagara Falls and may have been swept over.

New York State Park Police say witnesses reported seeing the man go into the river at Niagara Falls State Park around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police and firefighters searched the riverbank near the brink of the falls, and a helicopter from the  Erie County Sheriff's office searched the river below the falls.

The search was suspended around 11 p.m. A park police dispatcher says the search resumed Thursday morning.

Police say they haven't been able to confirm yet that anyone went over  the American Falls.
