The state's top ethics panel is investigating the sexual harassment scandal that has engulfed Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.
The Joint Commission on Public Ethics, or JCOPE, refused to comment, but the prominent attorney representing women who accepted settlements in the scandal says she has received subpoenas from the panel.
Attorney Gloria Allred says she's cooperating with JCOPE as it investigates the sexual harassment allegations against Assemblyman Vito Lopez and why Speaker Silver authorized the payment of $103,000 in public money to settle the case.
The State Comptroller's office and a legislative aide have also told the Associated Press that JCOPE is actively gathering documents related to the investigation.
