According to the Buffalo News, Masiello has been discussing the possibility with top Democrats in the area.
After ten years on the job, current chair Len Lenihan will not seek re-election in September.
Masiello has been serving as an Albany lobbyist in recent years. It's believed his candidacy has the support of Governor Cuomo.
