Congressman Brian Higgins stopped in during the NFTA Board of Commissioners meeting Monday.
Higgins has been relentless of late in his push to have the NFTA relinquish title of the property now known as the Outer Harbor.
His push continued at Monday's Commissioners meeting.
"We have an agency that has money; we have an agency that has a singular focus," said Higgins in a reference to the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation.
Later, NFTA Board Chair Howard Zemsky warmly welcomed the Congressman.
"He's encouraging of the NFTA to get out of the waterfront business; and I think we all feel that sooner is better than later, as long as we do it in a way that puts the waterfront in the best position to succeed."
Zemsky indicated he wants to have sit downs with Mayor Brown, the ECHDC, and other interested parties about the transfer of the title, a process that could take weeks, even a few months.
