Mental health providers collaborate to improve patient care

Child and Adolescent Treatment Services & Lake Shore Behavioral Health, Inc. have teamed-up to offer mental health programs for people of all ages. The partnership will allow the agencies to increase the number of mental health programs locally.

President of Child and Adolescent Treatment Services Bonnie L. Glazer says the new affiliation with Lake Shore Behavioral Health will increase the quality of patient care.

“I think this partnership allows us to be more family focused. We have been able to deal with parents in their role as parents, but this partnership will allow us in a much more seamless way to eliminate barriers to parents taking care of their own wellness issues,” said Glazer.

Glazer says the collaboration allows the organizations to focus on helping children and their caregivers’ mental health needs. She says healthy parents will lead to healthier children.

The United Way of Buffalo & Erie County awarded the organizations $50,000 to help defray transactional expenses including legal fees and accounting services as they begin to work together. Lake Shore President Dr. Howard Hitzel says the partnership will create efficiency by helping to reduce business costs.

“I think we’ll be able to learn a lot from each other and improve the quality of services that we provide. It will also create opportunities to be more efficient and save money and have more resources to reinvest in services,” said Hitzel.

Hitzel says the affiliation will allow the organizations to focus on the needs of patients without worrying about overhead costs.

Child and Adolescent Treatment Services is a local not-for profit provider of professional mental health treatment for children and families. Lake Shore Behavioral Health, Inc. is a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation service provider for adults with mental health and addictive disorders.
