A student has been arrested in the Ellicottville Central School District following a threat Friday morning.  Ellicottville High School, in Cattaraugus County, was placed in lockdown Friday morning.  New York State Police Trooper James O'Callaghan tells WBFO News around 8 a.m. a threatening note of violence was discovered within the high school.

That's when Police and Cattaraugus County Sheriffs were called to the scene and the school was put in lockdown. However, Trooper O'Callaghan said the threat was determined not to be credible. The lockdown was lifted, but then a 'shelter in place' was issued.

State Police updated a news release saying an arrest of a student was made.

“The Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) arrested a student under the age of 14.  Charges are still pending. The Ellicottville Central School lockdown has been lifted.”

The school lockdown was lifted.
