Exploring Blues: Innovative school program uses blues music as a teaching tool

Blues musician Tas Cru is part of an innovative program that uses blues in education.

Tas Cru is not your everyday blues musician. As an award-winning blues song-writer, performer and educator, Cru was recently in Buffalo as part of an innovative distance learning writing program. Cru talked about the program with WBFO Blues host Pat Feldballe.

Cru's distance learning program is in association with the Western New York Blues Society and their Blues in Schools program, Cleveland Hill Schools and Erie 1 BOCES, and part of the New York State Distance Learning Consortium.

There's more information on Tas Cru's blues education programs on his website.

Cru recently released his seventh album “Simmered and Stewed” and talks with WBFO's Pat Feldballe about the thinking that went in to its creation.

Special thanks to the Western New York Blues Societyfor facilitating these interviews.

Pat is a member of the Buffalo Broadcast Hall of Fame. He hosts WBFO's Weekend Blues Show from 7-11 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
