The University at Buffalo has transformed its campus dinning complex into a scene out of the 'Hunger Games'.  WBFO'S Focus on Education reporter Eileen Buckley talked with the organizers for Tuesday night's event open to the school and public.

"I think the students are going to be amazed by the decor and basically how we are going to transform this center to really look like scenes from the movie and the book obviously," said Ray Kohl, Marketing Manager at UB's Crossroads Culinary Center known as C-3 on the north campus in Amherst.

Multi-media will be used featuring sounds and special effects.  And there will be all types of cuisine featured featured in the 'Hunger Games'.

"So we are going to be actually serving rabbit stew, featured a lot in the movies and the book," said Elizabeth Amato, General Manager of the Crossroads Culinary.

"And we're also going to be doing Cornish Hens," said Amato. "We'll have roasted parsnips, beef stew."

Amato admits the food might be a little outrageous for some of the students tastes." "You know even if it is just having a taste and they don't like it," noted Amato.

Students are asked to bring along a nonperishable food item to be donated.

"We are going have an archery range set up tied in with University Presbyterian Food Pantry, and for that they get a soft arrow to shoot at a target," said Kohl.

Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite Hunger Games charter and there will be a grand prize.

This themed food event will be submitted as UB's official entry into a competition for the National Association of College and University Food Service awards.  A couple of years ago the school's entry received the national grand prize.
