A delegation from Say Yes to Education that included Buffalo's Parent District Coordinating Council President Samuel Radford, are meeting with President Obama at the White House Wednesday as part of the White House College Opportunity Day of Action.
Radford and hundreds of college presidents and other higher education leaders and Say Yes Buffalo will be meeting with the President, First Lady and Vice President Biden. According to a news release they are announcing 'new actions' to assist more students in preparing to go to college and graduate.
"Today’s participants were asked to commit to new action in one of four areas: building networks of colleges around promoting completion, creating K-16 partnerships around college readiness, investing in high school counselors as part of the First Lady’s Reach Higher initiative, and increasing the number of college graduates in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics," stated in a DPCC news release.
President Obama will also announce new steps on his Administration is helping to support these actions. It will include $10-million to help promote college completion and a $30-million AmeriCorps program that will improve low-income students’ access to college.
