The Buffalo School Board is meeting Wednesday afternoon to find out if a deal has been worked out for the resignation of Buffalo Schools Superintendent Pamela Brown.
Board members are expected to discuss Brown's resignation and talk about her replacement.
That discussion will revolve around whether there should be an interim superintendent as the district has done twice in recent years or make an immediate appointment for a long-term successor.
Board member Carl Paladino favors a local interim superintendent who has experience and "has a clear understanding of the cultural questions that come up in our district and maybe has some institutional knowledge too."
Paladino has been vocal in seeking Brown's ouster.
"I think it's important for us to hit the ground running. And, that's the only way we're going to get it. If we go on an elongated search, we're obviously not going to come up with a good person, mid-year," Paladino said.
It's not clear if an interim superintendent would have much power to make big changes or would just be keeping the chair warm.
The entire situation is creating some tension on the board. Board member Sharon Belton Cottman announced after a recent committee meeting that no one coming in would be as good as Superintendent Brown.
