Dolan pushes tax credit for school contributions

Cardinal Timothy Dolan and bishops from around New York lobbied in Albany Tuesday for a tax credit that would help the state's schools, including Catholic schools.

The Catholic leaders are advocating for a new tax credit for charitable donations made for educational purposes.  In an interview on the Capitol Pressroom on WBFO, Dolan said it's a proposal that benefits all concerned.

"All it would do is make it easier for somebody who is civic minded to support our kids in schools because they could get a (tax) credit for their gifts of scholarships to our schools -- all schools," Dolan said.

The New York State Catholic Conference is asking state leaders to include the tax credit in the budget that is due April 1st.
