Buffalo man pleads guilty to 3 credit union robberies

A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to the armed robberies of three area credit unions.

Adrian Applewhite, 33, also known as Boons, faces a mandatory minimum penalty of seven years in prison, a maximum of life, and a $250,000 fine after pleading gulity in U.S. Magistrate Court Friday to three federal counts of aggravated bank robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. 

The robberies occurred at the Lakeshore Federal Credit Union on Erie Road in Evans on Oct. 26, 2017, the South Towns Community Federal Credit Union on South Park Avenue in Lackawanna on July 24, 2019, and the Clarence Community and School Federal Credit Union Sheridan Drive in Clarence on Oct. 31, 2019.

Co-defendant Carl Wilson also was convicted in connection with these robberies and is awaiting sentencing. Charges are still pending against another co-defendant, Ronald Morris.
