Google Maps

Police in Hamburg are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a young couple.A police dispatcher received a call around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday from a man who said he shot his girlfriend and was going to shoot himself. The man identified himself as "Kevin."

When officers knocked on the door of an address on Loring Avenue, they heard a single gunshot. When they entered the apartment, they discovered a female victim on the floor of the kitchen with "obvious trauma." The male was found in an adjacent bedroom, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased have been identified as Kevin Kooper, 31, and Danielle Morse, 25. Neighbors told police the couple had lived at the address for approximately three months.

Morse had posted "I need to get out of this house" on her Facebook page early Tuesday morning. Kooper's last Facebook post showed him holding a rifle, without any comment.

Autopsies will be conducted by the Erie County Medical Examiner's Office. An investigation is underway. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Nick Ugale at 648-5111.

Anyone involved in a domestic violence situation is urged to contact Crisis Services. Help is available 24 hours a day at (716) 834-3131.
