Over the course of the last few days, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office has been contacted by several concerned citizens in regards to the torture and killing of two dogs found on Wilson Road in Lockport. A reward is now offered for an arrest and conviction.
The bodies of two small dogs, who appeared to have been severely abused, were reported found inside trash bags last week.
Sheriff James Voutour said in a statement that people have now come forward to offer reward money. Cuse Pit Crew of Syracuse has offered $1,000, a local Niagara County family has offered $250, and a woman in the Seattle, WA area has offered $5,000. This brings the total offered to $6,250.
If anyone has information regarding this crime, they are asked to contact the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau at 438-3327 and ask to speak with Investigator Brian Bloom or Captain Bruce Elliott.
Earlier this week, Henry Michael Burg, 69, of Lockport was arrested on a charge of torturing or injuring animals under Agriculture and Market Law. Voutour said Burg is accused of beating a dog with a metal socket extension after discovering that it had attacked his dog. The dog had to be euthanized due to the injuries sustained.
If convicted, Burg will be placed on the Niagara County Animal Abuse Registry.
