Cheektowaga man pleads not competent in father's shooting

Twitter

The son of a man killed in Cheektowaga last year has pleaded that he is not responsible for his father's death by reason of mental disease or defect.

Sirwilliam Hardy, 31, is charged with shooting his father, William Hardy, 54 of Fairfield, CA, at his home at 212 Whitney Place.

The younger Hardy was examined by psychiatric experts for both the defense and prosecution, who agreed that he was unable to appreciate the wrongfulness of his conduct at the time of the shooting.

More mental evaluations will be conducted before Hardy is sent to a secure psychiatric facility for treatment.
