A Niagara Falls man is facing up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine after pleading guilty to heroin charges. The U.S. Attorney's office says Shaquan Shingledecker, 25, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin after a high-speed chase through the Cataract City in February.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan Tokash says New York State troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a missing front license plate on February 2. Instead, Shingledecker lead police on a high-speed chase at over 95 miles per hour through commercial and residential sections of Niagara Falls.
He lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the side of a house at Girard Avenue and 75th Street. At the accident scene, Tokash says police found 95 glassine envelopes containing heroin, a loaded handgun and nearly $1,500 in cash in Shingledecker’s vehicle.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 15.
