Cheektowaga man charged with killing his father

A Cheektowaga man is being held without bail in the Erie County Holding Center, charged with the shooting death of his father. SirWilliam Hardy, 31, has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of 54-year-old William Hardy late Monday night. The shooting took place just before midnight in a home at 212 Whitney Place, in the southeast section of the town.

The younger Hardy is wheelchair-bound because of a 2010 motorcycle accident. The case earned him a $5 million settlement in December 2011 because his motorcycle hit a car making a U-turn in front of him on Bailey Avenue in Buffalo. The accident left him paralyzed from the chest down.
