Man charged with shooting stepdaughters, 4 and 6, with BB gun as 'punishment'

Erie County Sheriff's Office

A Concord man has been arrested and charged with shooting his 4-year-old and 6-year-old stepdaughters with a BB gun.  The Erie County Sheriff's Office says Steven Scroger, 29, intentionally shot the children numerous times as a punishment. Authorities were alerted to the situation when they were contacted by workers at an Orchard Park medical facility on Saturday.

Scroger was taken into custody after interviews and an investigation by deputies, detectives and a child protective services case worker. He faces multiple felony charges of assaulting a person under 7 years old, criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

The BB gun Scroger allegedly used has been taken as evidence. He is being held at the Erie County Holding Center pending an appearance in Concord Town Court on Thursday.
