Jamestown man charged with murdering his wife and stepson

Jamestown Police

A 51-year-old man is charged with stabbing his wife and stepson to death in their western New York home.

Police in Jamestown announced second-degree murder charges Wednesday against Allen Witruke.  He was arrested Tuesday hours after authorities discovered two bodies inside the home and asked the public and other police agencies for help in finding him. Police picked Witruke up in Olean, about 40 miles east of Jamestown.

The victims are identified as 52-year-old Catherine Witruke and 34-year-old Eric Washburn. Police say one of the victims was bludgeoned and both were repeatedly stabbed.

Witruke pleaded not guilty during his initial appearance Wednesday in Jamestown City Court, where he was represented by a public defender. He's being held without bond in Chautauqua County Jail.
