For the second time this semester, a SUNY Buffalo State was robbed at knife point. University Police issued a safety advisory notifying the campus community of the incident.

University Police said a call that a male commuter student was robbed of his cell phone at knife point as he was walking on campus. It happened at the intersection of Iroquois Drive and Grant Street shortly after midnight.

The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 19 to 20-years-old, approximately 5'8" tall, thin build. He was described as wearing a black bubble coat and dark jeans and fled on campus toward the Tower residence halls.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call University Police at 716-878-6333 or the University Police Confidential Tip Line at 716-878-3166.

This is the second time since September that a Buffalo State student was robbed at knife point on campus.  This is the fifth criminal incident since the start of the semester.

In September, Buffalo State Police Chief Peter Carey told WBFO News campus crime numbers are similar over the past three years.

"We're not much different then what we have been the three years and somewhat into the fourth year in 2015. We are just getting it in a short period of time," noted Chief Carey.

Still, University Police remind all members of the campus that 'as the semester draws to a close', they should be aware of their surroundings at all times both on and off campus.
