UB issues alert after gun sighting

University at Buffalo Police are beefing up patrols Monday tonight on the north campus in Amherst after they received received an unconfirmed report of a bald man dropping what appeared to be a gun from his waistband. 

It happened Monday afternoon in the Student Union in Amherst.  According to the report, the man picked up the gun, then placed back in his waistband and exited the Student Union. 

The suspect was described as wearing very baggy sweat pants that were falling down, showing black underwear, and carrying a red back pack. 

UB Police do not believe there is an immediate threat to the campus. However, police have increased patrols on North Campus and will continue patrolling through the night. 

Please call University Police at 645-2222 if you see anything suspicious.

UB Police received unconfirmed report of a bald man dropping what appeared to be a gun from his waistband in Student Union.  According to the report, he picked it up, placed back in his waistband and exited the Student Union.  The suspect was described as wearing very baggy sweat pants that were falling down, showing black underwear, and carrying a red back pack.

UB Police do not believe there is an immediate threat to the campus.
