The Wheatfield man found with bomb-making materials in his garage last month has been indicted by a federal grand jury. Michael O'Neill faces counts of making and possessing a destructive device. O'Neill was injured on July 21 in an explosion on Walmore Road. Authorities discovered what appeared to be an area where improvised explosive devices were being manufactured in plain view.
Among the items they found were flash powder, BBs and shotgun shells containing shrapnel. Seven homemade bombs were found, one labeled "powder w/nails." O'Neill suffered a severe leg injury in the blast.
O'Neill, the stepson of Niagara Counter Legislature Chairman William Ross, will be arraigned on August 18. He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail and a $250,000 fine, if convicted.
