Tonawanda man sentenced for string of summer arsons

File photo

A man who went on an arson spree in North Tonawanda last summer was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison Wednesday in State Supreme Court. Eight houses and five vehicles were damaged the night of August 4, 2014 by Christopher Syracuse, 26, of the City of Tonawanda, causing more than $640,000 in damage. No one was injured.

Syracuse blamed a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs for his behavior. He apologized to his victims in court, saying the arsons were "out of character."

Syracuse will have to pay restitution to his victims after he is released from prison.
