Hamburg Police have made an arrest in the case of a July hit-and-run on Big Tree Road that took a life. Early on July 15, Jennifer Martello, 29, was found seriously injured and unconscious along the side of Big Tree Road near a mobile home park. She was taken to ECMC, where she died of her injuries.

During follow-up investigation, police tracked down a 2004 blue Dodge Neon which had recently been repaired.

Follow up investigation led to the arraignment of Ashley Sawicki, 21, Monday morning in Hamburg Town Court on a Class D felony for leaving the scene of an accident.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years and a fine of up to $5,000.
