A Buffalo teenager has admitted to committing three rapes in the city's Allentown neighborhood over the summer. Dionte Cooper, 16, pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of first-degree rape. The attacks happened over the span of a week in late June and early July. The incidents prompted community activists to hold a "Tack Back the Night" demonstration at the time.
Police were able to track Cooper down using GPS technology after he stole a cell phone from one of his victims. Forensic DNA evidence linked him to the assaults.
The charges carry prison sentences of up to 25 years on each count. The Buffalo News reports the judge in the case has indicated he will impose a prison term of no more than 21 years.
Cooper will be sentenced on November 12.
