An accused drug kingpin is scheduled for arraignment today in State Supreme Court in Buffalo. State Police say they've arrested 33-year-old Eury Rodriguez, a New York City man who spent two years on the lam after being identified by authorities as the leader of a multimillion-dollar heroin ring.
Authorities announced Monday that Rodriguez was tracked down by the State Police Special Investigations Unit in White Plains and taken into custody last Thursday. Officials say Rodriguez ran an operation that moved more than seven kilos of heroin with an estimated street value of $3.5 million from the Bronx to Buffalo.
In March 2011, he was one of 15 people named in a 51-count drug indictment, but he managed to avoid arrest until last week.
