Mayor Byron Brown, E-District Police chief Kimberly Beaty and Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda announce drug arrests

Police Commissioner Derenda says an illegally parked car on West Northrup Place in the University District led to the arrests after the drugs were on display in plain view of officers.

"There was an open door. You could see in the house. They walked in and talked to somebody. At that point, they spotted a large amount of marijuana," said Derenda.

"Everything was in plain view," said E-District Police Chief Kimberly Beaty.

The four UB students are from Webster, Hancock and Ithaca, New York.  The other three residents arrested were from Buffalo and West Seneca.  All could possibly face federal charges.
