Thursday Night Terrors returns, expected to collaborate with Nickel City Con again

Thursday Night Terrors

Dipson Amherst Theatre's monthly cult-horror movie series is back for its eighth season starting with John Carpenter's 1987 film Prince of Darkness. Thursday Night Terrors, created by local horror fanatic Peter Vullo, has been going strong for almost four years now. He spoke with WBFO about the future of Terrors and shared his favorite horror films of 2019.

Vullo said Terrors is expected to collaborate once again with Nickel City Con this upcoming May.

"We haven't confirmed anything yet," he said. "I'm definitely looking forward to sorting out the details and announcing that."

"Last year we went three nights of screenings with three guests. That was a lot of work, but that was super satisfying. You reach a certain thrill and excitement of doing things," Vullo said. "I was at the convention center and then I would run to the theater for these screenings just downing caffeine. It felt like, 'Wow, I'm actually doing this thing.' Of course, you get addicted to that feeling and you want to do it again."

Vullo spoke with WBFO's Nick Lippa about his favorite horror films of 2019

Vullo's number one horror film of 2019 was Mike Flanagan's Doctor Sleep, a sequel to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. Both films are based off Stephen King novels.

Some other suggested 2019 horror films:

  • It Chapter 2
  • Us
  • Midsommar
  • Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Nick Lippa leads our Arts & Culture Coverage, and is also the lead reporter for the station's Mental Health Initiative, profiling the struggles and triumphs of those who battle mental health issues and the related stigma that can come from it.
