UB alum Sean Ryan, in RENT at Shea's this week, takes us backstage

Sean Ryan Facebook

Have you seen the titles "Dance Captain" or "Swing" in your playbill at Shea's? Wonder what those jobs are? UB alumnus Sean Ryan is in the current tour of RENT at Shea's and explains it all.

Ryan, the Dance Captain for the 20th Anniversary Tour of RENT (the musical about NYC in the late 1980s based on Puccini's opera LA BOHEME), is at Shea's with RENT from March 26-31.

Ryan will lead a dance master class on Friday, March 29, 4:00-5:30 p.m. in the Shea’s 710 Theatre Lobby. The program is for ages 10 and up and all skill levels are welcome.

Sean talks about life on the road, his favorite songs in RENT, and what it means to be a Dance Captain, a Swing, and an Understudy.

Even though "semi-retired," Peter Hall continues to wear many hats. He is the Sunday afternoon host on WBFO’s “sister station,” WNED Classical where he has produced over 1,000 radio interviews with musical artists. If you see him at a theater with a pen in his hand, he’s probably getting ready to co-host “Theater Talk” with Anthony Chase (heard Friday mornings at 6:45 and 8:45 a.m. on WBFO) or to write a review for www.buffalorising.com. He is also a member of the "Artie Awards" committee (think “Tony Awards for Buffalo theaters”).
