Remembering Richard Horwitz, a beautiful mind

The federal government reports nearly one in five adults suffers from mental illness in any given year. Many of those under treatment live extraordinary lives. WBFO contributor Rich Kellman reports on one such man, a brilliant scholar who will be deeply missed in his West Side neighborhood.

Richard Horwitz died on April 19 at the age of 68. Horwitz, who had schizophrenia, lived a full life with support from his family and the community. His passing was a shock to the Elmwood Avenue neighborhood he frequented.
