Theater Talk: 'All Quiet' tells a dark story with power and grace

Most of the Curtain Up! plays continue into October, including "All Quiet on the Western Front" at the New Phoenix Theater on Johnson Park in Buffalo, part of the international 100-year look back at World War I.  This sad story of young Germans who volunteer together is told with power and grace and is enhanced by the puppetry of Michele Costa.

Similarly dark and thought provoking, Torn Space Theater continues with "Lulu," which uses avant garde multi-media techniques.  While Theater Talk has rightly praised Anne Gayley for her performance in "Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks" at the Park School, we do know that it takes two to tango, and note the skills of Buffalo's Greg Gjurich, as well.

Also, the ever-popular "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" opens at Shea's Performing Arts Center on Tuesday.

Listen for Theater Talk, Friday morning at 6:45 and 8:45 during Morning Edition.
