Sabres deal Neuvirth on trade deadline day

Monday marked trade deadline day in the National Hockey League.  WBFO'S 'Behind The Bench' Sabres beat reporter Bill Hoppe says the Buffalo Sabres have traded GoalieMichal Neuvirthto the Islanders for Chad Johnson.

Hoppe said "the Sabres dealt Neuvirth, an unrestricted free agent following the season, despite some impressive starts in recent weeks. The 26-year-old is 6-7-1, with a 2.99 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage in 27 games this season. He posted a .942 save percentage in eight straight starts since taking over as the No. 1 goalie last month."

The Buffalo Sabres traded forward Brian Flynn for a fifth-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Brian Flynn.

Flynn recorded 41 points (17+24) in 159 games with the Sabres after signing with the team as a free agent on March 29, 2012.

Hoppe also reports the team has trade Torrey Mitchell to the Canadiens. "The 30-year-old, a free agent following the season, has six goals and 13 points in 51 games this season. Mitchell is from Montreal," stated Hoppe in his article.

TSN and other media outlets also report that the Sabres traded winger Chris Stewart to the Minnesota Wild for a 2017 second round pick.
