The City of Buffalo announced that its weekly recycling collections will remain due to the “impressive response” to participate by city residents.

The city recently started a new single stream curb-side recycling pilot program by the Department of Public Works.

The city reports that in the past three months, 70,000 households in Buffalo received either a 65 or 95 gallon green cart for recycling.  Recycling collection has doubled in the Queen city since the arrival of the new green totes.

Nearly 1,000 tons of material was collected last month.

The city is reminding residents that recycling collection say of the week will remain the same as trash pick-up.  City residents are asked to call 311 with any questions.
