Governor Andrew Cuomo struck a deal on a new teacher evaluation system that he says will be a national model.
The agreement reached Thursday between the state and its largest teachers' union creates a statewide standard for evaluating teachers.
Interim Buffalo Schools superintendent Amber Dixon is responding to the Governor's evaluations plan.
"We are encouraged by the clarity of the regulations that were announced by Governor Cuomo and the State Education Department today. We welcome the strengthening of the 3012c legislation," said Dixon. "The rigorous discussions that have taken place among the Buffalo Public Schools, the Buffalo Teachers Federation and Buffalo Council of Supervisors and Administrators over the past eight weeks have allowed Buffalo to move forward in this important process of ensuring student achievement."
