Strong gusty winds are causing near white out conditions at times across the Buffalo Niagara region.
Winds in excess of 40-miles-per-hour are causing blowing snow.
Conditions along area roadways quickly deteriorated Thursday afternoon. The worst conditions will progress from northwest to southeast across the metro Buffalo area through 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Heavy snow will extend inland across parts of Niagara, Orleans and Genesee Counties and eventually Southern Erie and Wyoming Counties. You are urged to leave plenty of extra time in your travels on the roads.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 Thursday night for northern Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, In Southern Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties the winter weather advisory will remain posted until 5 a.m. Friday morning. In Wyoming County the advisory will expire at midnight Friday.
Snow started to develop around the noon Thursday. One to two inches is possible in the metro Buffalo region.
