Winter weather has been running a little behind schedule this season, but the arrival of the new year is accompanied by something that more closely resembles what we expect from January.

A Lake Snow Warning will remain posted until 1 p.m. Tuesday for Wyoming County, and until 6 p.m. Tuesday night for Southern Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties.

Meteorologist Tony Ansuini at National Weather Service in Buffalo said those areas under the warning will experience some heavy snows.

"If you get under one of these snow bands you can pick up a quick burst of snow, maybe about an inch or so per hour," said Ansuini.

Bu the bands of lake snows should lose steam Tuesday afternoon.

"By afternoon we will see the lake activity wind down, said Ansuni.

Along with the snow, the area will be gripped by cold temperatures with highs expected in the upper teens.
