Mayor Byron Brown has appointed  Buffalo attorney Amy Martoche to fill the vacant  City Court seat left vacant with  the election of Judge Sharon LoVallo to Erie County Family Court.

Martoche was selected following a public search.  18-candidates were interviewed  by members of the City's Corporation Counsel’s Office.  They recommended finalists for the Mayor’s consideration.
Martoche is a UB law school graduate.

“I am very pleased to appoint Amy Martoche  as Judge to the Buffalo City Court, a candidate who not only possesses impeccable legal credentials but has a passion for serving the City of Buffalo,” stated Mayor Brown.  “It was my hope that through a public appointment process, a dynamic candidate would be identified as was the case last year when I had the privilege of appointing Judge Susan Eagan.  I have every confidence that we found such a candidate in Amy Martoche, who I believe will be a tough, but compassionate jurist that the citizens of the City of Buffalo can be proud of in Buffalo City Court.”

Martoche  has practiced law for the last 12-years, most recently serving as a partner at Connors and Vilardo law firm, concentrating on criminal and civil litigation.

“I would like to thank Mayor Brown for his trust and confidence in me and I am honored for the opportunity to serve on the Buffalo City Court,” said Ms. Martoche. “I have a deep passion and love for the City of Buffalo and I accept the Mayor’s appointment with the commitment of serving the citizens of Buffalo to the best of my ability.”

Martoche will earn $113,900.
