U.S. Senator Charles Schumer was in Niagara Falls Monday afternoon to call on the U.S. Department of Transportation to "fast track" the demolition of a section of the Robert Moses Parkway between the John Daley and Main street exit ramps.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer took a page out of the Ronald Reagan playbook Monday, calling for the demolition of a short section of the Robert Moses Parkway in Niagara Falls.

"Right now the Robert Moses Parkway stands like a Berlin Wall," said Schumer.  "Mr. Transportation Secretary, tear down this road."

Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster joined Senator Schumer, who called upon the "Transportation Rapid Response Team" inside the US Department of Transportation, to fast track plans to replace a short section of the Robert Moses Parkway.

"This long over due project Project must move full steam ahead in order to jumpstart economic activity    in Niagara's downtown as soon as possible we can't let this project get tangled up in federal red tape," said Schumer.

A 2009 City of Niagara Falls Master plan stated that removing barriers to one of the world's Seven Wonders could generate new investment for new businesses, and provide a much needed boost for existing businesses in the downtown sector of Niagara Falls.
