Neglia Ballet is in the midst of rehearsal for this weekend's annual production of The Nutcracker at Shea's Performing Arts Center.
The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is collaborating for the third consecutive year to present Neglia’s Ballet set to the classic holiday score of Tchaikovsky’s.
WBFO News Eileen Buckley went behind the scenes of a rehearsal at Neglia's studio's on Elmwood Avenue. Artistic director Sergio Neglia was preparing for the role of the Nutcracker and ballerina Silvina Vaccarelli of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Eileen spoke with Neglia executive director Heidi Halt and Neglia's long-time dancer teacher Mario Galizzi traveled from Argentina to assist with the production.
In 1995 Silvina joined the Ballet of the Colon Theatre as a member of the corps de ballet and has since been promoted to Principal Dancer. She has danced most of the leading roles in the classical repertoire as well as in contemporary ballets.
Neglia's Nutcracker takes place Saturday, November 26 at 7 p.m. and Sunday November 27, at 2 p.m. at Shea's
