Twentieth Century Club plague, designation on the National Register of Historic Places

Members of Buffalo's Twentieth Century Club of Buffalo celebrated the official designation on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S, Department of Interior. Club president Jan Kennedy led a ceremony Wednesday inside the history Delaware Avenue building to unveil a plague that will be placed outside the landmark on Delaware Avenue.

The building was designed by architect E.B. Green. 40-year member Betty Boeckel tells WBFO News when the National Registry began its investigation into the Delaware Avenue building and it met all the right criteria.

"So a group of them came here, and with a few other people, actually from New York State, come through the building, to see if they thought we qualified," said Boeckle.

The Twentieth Century Club was founded in the late 1800's. It serves as a gathering place for women offering them life-long learning of issues that range from culture to education to the women's movement.
