Letchworth, NY – A 19-year-old Amherst man died late Saturday after a fall in Letchworth State Park.
State Park police said Andrew Brinkman died after falling 300-feet into a gorge at the park.
Brinkman was pronounced dead at the scene. He was with three friends when the mishap occurred. Authorities say they do not believe alcohol played a factor.
It was the second such fatality in less than week. Simon Griffis, 48, of Buffalo died June 28 after falling in to gorge at Zoar Valley in Cattaraugus County. Griffis was executive director of the Ashford Hollow Foundation.
