New teen driving rules take effect Monday

By Andrew Polino

Buffalo, NY – A new set of driving rules and restrictions will take effect tomorrow affecting teen drivers.

Under the new rules, teens will be required to have their learner's permit for at least six months before scheduling their road test. They will be allowed only one person under 21 in the car with them, and they will have to record at least 50 hours of parent-supervised practice driving.

Erie County Clerk Kathy Hochul says she hopes these new rules will ease the concern of parents.

More information on the new rules are at the clerk's web site.
