Buffalo, NY – The Food Bank of Western New York kicked of its holiday drive in Buffalo this week. It is seeking donations of non-perishable items from the community.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown placed the first batch of non-perishable items in a Food Bank bin in the lobby of City Hall to begin the collection drive. Bins are placed throughout City Hall. As the Thanksgiving Holiday approaches, the Mayor is urging Buffalo residents and business to make a donation.
The Food Bank distributes more than one million pounds of food each month. Food Bank spokesman Mike Billoni says this is the organization's busiest time. The Food Bank is also experiencing an 11 percent increase in those seeking help.
