Buffalo, NY – This is Sunshine Week, a national observance designed to create awareness about government openness.
The Bush administration is known for its secrecy. Estimates are that 39 percent of all Freedom of Information Act requests filed in 2006 were not fulfilled. But many advocates of open government are looking forward to the upcoming change in presidents. All three of the current candidates are pledging to be more open.
Robert Freeman is the executive director of the State Committee on Open Government in Albany. He joined us on the line from his Albany office to talk about Sunshine Week.
